On June 12, the Banco de España will host with TheWorld Bank the fifth joint policy conference, entitled: "The Future of Globalization and Economic Integration in Europe and Latin America: Implications for Growth and Social Equality". The objective of this conference is to bring together academics and policy makers to discuss the challenges and opportunities of globalization. In particular, their implications for growth and employment and also for inequality, including possible policy responses. The event will be opened by the governor of Banco de España, Luis M. Linde, and the regional vice-president of the World Bank, Jorge Familiar, and will include a speech by Daron Acemoglu (MIT), and two round tables. In the first one, Fernando Broner (CREIUniversitat Pompeu Fabra) will moderate Anna Maria Mayda (Georgetown University), Nina Pavcnik (Dartmouth College) and Eric Verhoogen (Columbia University) in the academic approach to the question. In the second, Michael Reid (The Economist) will moderate Mauricio Cárdenas (Minister of Finance, Colombia), Santiago Levy (Inter-American Development Bank), Álvaro Pereira (OECD), Ángel Ubide (Goldman Sachs) and Alejandro Micco (Undersecretary of Finance, Chile), in the economic policy approach.
