The Banco de España actively participates in various international fora with the aim of sharing supervisory experiences and contributing to the development of policies and regulations on conduct and customer protection.
European Banking Authority
The European Banking Authority (EBA) is responsible for promoting transparency and ensuring appropriate protection for consumers of financial services in Europe.
To conduct its mission, it prepares, inter alia, binding technical standards, guidelines, recommendations, opinions and reports. The Banco de España plays an active role in the work performed by the EBA to protect bank customers.
International Financial Consumer Protection Organisation
The International Financial Consumer Protection Organisation (FinCoNet) is an association of supervisory authorities responsible for the protection of bank customers. It aims to promote proper conduct among financial institutions through effective supervision.
The Banco de España is a member of its Governing Council and an active participant in its working groups, which have addressed issues such as supervisory tools, digitalisation, product governance and consumer credit.

G20-OECD Task Force on Financial Consumer Protection
The G20-OECD Task Force on Financial Consumer Protection, of which the Banco de España is a member, brings together OECD and G20 member countries and international organisations. It aims to develop policies to protect consumers in diverse areas such as digitalisation, sustainable finance and financial inclusion.
This working group has prepared the High-Level Principles on Financial Consumer Protection, an international standard that ensures that adopting countries have in place an efficient and comprehensive consumer protection framework.
