Banco de España is a public law entity with its own legal personality and full capacity to act publicly and privately. In the course of its activities and in order to fulfil its purposes, it acts independently from the Central State Administration, performing its duties according to the Law of Autonomy and other legal requirements.
Also, as part of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB), Banco de España is subject to the provisions of the Treaty on European Union and the Statutes of the ESCB.
