On June 4-5, the Banco de España will host the conference “Macroeconomic Policies, Output Fluctuations, and Long-term Growth”, jointly organized with The World Bank. The goal of the conference is to bring together academics and policy makers to discuss on the effects of fiscal or monetary policies on potential growth and the business cycle. In particular, the Conference will look for new evidence on the relationship between monetary, tax and expenditure policies and business cycles, with special attention to the implications for long-term growth. How different fiscal alternatives are likely to affect labor productivity and growth, and how they can be coordinated with other macroeconomic policies to improve social welfare will be also assessed.
