The Independent Evaluation Office of the Banco de España was established in September 2024 as an evolution of the "Evaluation Programme," with the aim of examining and improving the actions of the institution, promoting the rational use of public resources, enhancing the quality management of services, and fostering transparency and accountability of the Banco de España.

Since 2008, the Internal Audit Department has carried out an external quality assessment every five years, in accordance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
