Card payments related to trips abroad by tourists residents in Spain

In this section, we present a new experimental statistic whose main objective is to provide information on external payments, both card present and remote, with bank cards issued in Spain and that could be tourism related (hotels, travel agencies, etc). The basic information is declared by the card issuers (Payment services providers) to the Bank of Spain in virtue of the EU ECB Regulation 2020/2011 on payments statistics.

In the next panel, the user may access to different graphs selecting the type of merchant or the counterpart country (the country of location of the point of sale terminal or that of the main activity of the merchant), and the reference quarter of the information. In addition, it is possible to filter according to the number of countries or its relative importance (percentage on total). Finally, clicking on the bar of a series of reference you can display a graph of its historical evolution.
