Before the current plan, the Banco de España had only adopted one other strategic plan, which covered the period 2020-24. Information on Strategic Plan 2024 and the results achieved is provided below as part of the Bank’s commitment to evaluation and accountability to the public.
Strategic Plan 2024
On 9 January 2020, the Governing Council of the Banco de España approved Strategic Plan 2024, the Bank’s first such plan.
The plan had a five-year implementation horizon, from 2020 to 2024, and established supporting stable economic growth as the Banco de España’s mission.
Vision and objectives
Vision represented what the Banco de España wanted to become in the future and how it wished to be perceived.
In Strategic Plan 2024 this vision was articulated as the ambition to become an outstanding and dynamic central bank committed to society.
To achieve this vision by 2024 and fulfil its mission, the plan established the following strategic objectives:

Once the plan’s implementation period had ended, the progress made vis-à-vis the five objectives was assessed.
Overall, they helped boost the presence, impact and external influence of the Banco de España in its various areas of activity. They also contributed to significantly improving the flexibility, agility and efficiency of its internal organisation.
