In recent years, central banks have paid increasing attention to the visibility and impact of their analysis and research. They have sought ways to reinforce this impact and play a more active role in social and economic debates. In early 2021, the Banco de España commissioned an independent evaluation of the dissemination of its economic and financial research and analysis that aimed to explore these issues.
The evaluation assessed the effectiveness of recent innovations introduced by the Bank to enhance the dissemination and awareness of its analysis and research – placing these innovations within the context of current trends in central banks’ strategic communications and stakeholder engagement.
