The BCBS is addressing climate risks from the global banking regulation and supervision standpoint, taking a gradual and sequential approach. It has first focused on analysing climate risk transmission channels, and the methodologies to measure and assess these risks. On the basis of this analytical work, the BCBS is studying to what extent the current Basel framework includes climate-related financial risks, distinguishing three major areas in its work: regulation, supervision and disclosure.
The work performed includes most notably:
- Consultative document - Disclosure of climate-related financial risks - 2023
