Validación de Modelos Avanzados en el Pilar 1 de Basilea II

From 14 to 17 November 2006 seminar held in Madrid on validation of advanced models in Pillar 1, organized by Banco de España who, like the one held in April 2005, claimed to be one of the practical ways to translate commitments supervisory cooperation and partnership established in the different international forums and strongly made by Banco de España.

The seminar was attended by representatives of supervisory agencies in ten Latin American countries, Britain and Portugal, and the Association of Supervisors of Banks of the Americas (ASBA), and the Committee on Banking Supervision Basel and its objectives were delve into the practical aspects of the IRB model validation, including market risk and operational, to publicize the progress in cross-border implementation of Basel II, and facilitate the exchange of views and common concerns.

The following topics were discussed: general issues of implementing Basel II in Spain border experiences in implementing the agreement, construction and evaluation of scoring and rating systems; issue of supervisory validation of the IRB approaches, and review of the issues of operational risk approaches and the validation of market risk in trading activity.
