General Government statistics

Among the functions assigned to the Banco de España by Spanish law and, specifically, by the Law of Autonomy of the Banco de España and by the successive National Statistics Plans is the compilation of public debt according to the excessive deficit protocol (EDP). This statistic forms part of the information that is submitted twice a year to the European Commission within the framework of the EDP notifications.

This section includes quarterly information and a monthly estimate of the debt of general government and its subsectors and the quarterly reconciliation between debt and the deficit. In addition, it offers information on the financial accounts of general government, the debt of public enterprises and supplementary information on general government not compiled by the Banco de España, such as the sector deficit and Spain-EU relations.
