Terms of Use for Statistical Information

The statistical information published on the Banco de España website is made available to the public free of charge, with open access and use, in accordance with the principles of transparency and reuse of public information. However, this policy does not imply a right to access confidential data nor does it apply to third-party data.

The published data are for informational purposes only and therefore does not have legal or evidentiary value.

Reuse of Information

The reuse of statistical information is permitted under the following conditions:

  1. Integrity of the Information:

        • The content of the information and its metadata may not be altered.
        • The meaning of the information may not be distorted.

2. Source Citation:

The Banco de España must always be cited as the source, in one of the following ways:

          1. If the data are not processed: Source: Banco de España website (www.bde.es)
          2. If the data are processed: Source: Own elaboration based on data from the Banco de España website (www.bde.es)

3. Date of Update:

        • The date of the last update of the reused information must be mentioned, whenever it is available in the original.

4. Personal Data:

        • When the information contains personal data, the specific purpose for which reuse is permitted must be respected.
        • The confidentiality of personal data must be maintained, and any processes aimed at re-identifying data subjects are prohibited. These data may not be used in reports, research papers, extractions, tables, graphs, or any other medium that circulates publicly or to third parties. Only the aggregated results of analysis and research may be disseminated, provided that the data subjects cannot be identified, either directly or indirectly.

5. User Responsibility:

        • The use of the data is under the sole responsibility of the user. The user shall be liable for any damages caused to themselves or to third parties as a result of using the data.
        • The Banco de España shall not be held liable for any damage or harm that may arise directly or indirectly from the use of the reused information.

6. Institutional Neutrality:

        • It may not be stated, implied, or suggested that the Banco de España participates in, sponsors, or supports the reuse of the information.

Limitations and Warnings

      • The use of the information refers exclusively to statistics published in standard format.
      • Access to certain statistics may be restricted under exceptional circumstances.
      • The Banco de España aims to maintain the quality and periodic updating of the information it disseminates, avoiding and minimizing possible errors caused by technical failures. However, it does not guarantee that the updating service will not be interrupted or affected by such failures.
      • The Banco de España reserves the right to remove or suspend, in whole or in part, as well as to modify the structure and format of the information it disseminates, due to the adaptation of its publication processes and the statistics it provides.
      • When the information is incorporated into documents or other media that are to be sold or transferred for a fee, it must be stated that such information can be obtained free of charge from the Banco de España website.
