Definition

The aggregate ‘cash and deposits’ includes cash in circulation and deposits, both in domestic and foreign currency.

Cash and deposits fall under category 2 of the financial instruments classification, according to the European System of Accounts 2010.

There are three subcategories of financial transactions related to cash and deposits:

  • cash (category 2.1)
  • transferable deposits (category 2.2)
  • other deposits (category 2.9).
