Special Drawing Rights (SDRs)

Definition

Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) are international reserve assets created by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which allocates them to its members to allow them to increase their reserve assets.

The IMF’s SDR Department manages reserve assets by allocating SDRs among IMF member countries and other international organizations, collectively known as participants.
