Banknote allocation key

Definition

Percentages that result from taking into account the ECB’s share in the total euro banknote issue and applying the subscribed capital key (rounded to the nearest multiple of 0,0005 of a percentage point) to the national central banks’ share in this total.

Further information

The ECB has been allocated a share of 8% of the total value of the euro banknotes in circulation,and the remaining 92% has been allocated to the national central banks and divided amongst them according to their respective ECB capital keys.
