Electronic money institutions are legal entities authorized to issue electronic money.

Electronic money is understood as any monetary value stored by electronic or magnetic means that represents a claim on the issuer, issued upon receipt of funds for the purpose of making payment transactions, and accepted by a natural or legal person other than the electronic money issuer.
