Deposit redeemable at notice

Definition

Deposits not subject to conversion into means of payment, without an agreed maturity date, which cannot be converted into cash without a notice period, before which conversion into cash is not possible, or is only possible with a significant penalty or restriction.

Deposits available with a notice period of less than three months are included in the monetary aggregate M2 (and therefore in M3), while those available with a notice period of more than three months are included in the longer-term (non-monetary) financial liabilities of the monetary financial institutions sector.
