The Banco de España in Madrid operates with credit institutions and offers the following services to the general public:

  • The exchange of euro banknotes and coins.
  • The withdrawal from circulation of counterfeit banknotes and coins.
  • The exchange of damaged banknotes.
  • Government debt subscription.
  • Applications for information from the Central Credit Register (CCR).
  • The processing by the Institutions' Conduct of complaints and enquiries about transparency regulations and banking good practice criteria.
  • Register of documents.
  • Deposits with public bodies with an account opened with the Banco de España.

From Monday to Friday: 8.30 to 14.00

Closed: Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays

During the local holiday week, and on December 24 and 31, the schedule may be modified for some services. It is recommended to consult the agency beforehand.
