The Library has over 365,000 printed volumes, specialising in economics. It also offers access to numerous electronic journals and e-books, databases, specialised information portals, etc.
Although Banco de España staff are the main users of the Library, it is open to any individuals or institutions with an interest in its collections and services.
The Special Value Collection, comprising more than 17,000 items from the 15th-19th century, is an important part of the collection and of great interest for the study of economic history and law in Spain.
To celebrate World Book Day, the Bank of Spain Library presents the exhibition "The Inhabitants of the Moon” (1836)
, dedicated to the work that chronicles one of the great scientific hoaxes of the 19th century. The exhibition will be open until May 14 during regular opening hours.
In addition, the Library is participating in the Hispana PRO virtual exhibition
of the same title, further expanding the digital reach of its bibliographic heritage.
Due to an institutional event, on Monday, May 18, the Library will reduce its opening hours, remaining open from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m.
