New Product: Observatory of the Non-Banking Fintech Industry in Spain

The Banco de España is launching today the Observatory of the Non-Banking Fintech Industry. This is an experimental, self-developed statistic that has been collecting data since 2018 on entities that, using technological innovation in financial services, develop new business models, applications, processes, or products with a significant impact on financial markets and institutions.

The information is presented through dynamic visualizations that allow users to modify the data selection using interactive filters. These visualizations are grouped into the following three sections: “Census and Characteristics,” “Distribution and Segmentation,” and “Aggregated Quantitative Information.” The section can be accessed through the following link.

• A methodological note detailing the procedures followed by the Banco de España in the preparation of this statistic.
• A statistical note on the Observatory of the Non-Banking Fintech Industry in Spain. In addition to the methodology, it includes an economic analysis of these institutions for the period 2018–2023.
