Definition
Foreign transactions statistics (ETE, by its initials in Spanish). Form by which natural and legal persons (public or private) residing in Spain, other than payment service providers registered in the official registers of the Bank of Spain, declare both transactions carried out with non-residents and assets or liabilities held abroad.
Further information
The ETE form is an extremely relevant primary source of information for the preparation of direct foreign investment by non-monetary private sectors, as well as for the estimation of investments in securities deposited abroad.
This information allows for the preparation of Spain's Balance of Payments, as well as its International Investment Position, along with other primary sources of information. It is also used, consistently with previous statistics, in the estimation of the Financial Accounts of the Spanish economy and, therefore, the National Accounts.
Declarants must report on the following financial instruments:
- equity holdings
- negotiable securities
- no
- negotiable fixe
- income securities
- temporary acquisitions and transfers
- loans, credits, deposits, and accounts
- real estate
