The Banco de España's Barcelona branch office operates with credit institutions and offers the following services to the general public:

  • Exchange of euro banknotes and coins.
  • Withdrawal of counterfeit banknotes and coins from circulation.
  • Exchange of damaged banknotes.
  • Subscription of government debt.
  • Requests for information from the Central Credit Register.
  • Complaints and enquiries concerning transparency regulations and good banking practices, processed by the Institutions' Conduct Department.
  • Registration of documentation.
  • Payments to public bodies that have an account open at the Banco de España.

Monday to Friday: 8.30 to 14.00.
Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays: closed.

The hours for some services may change during the local holiday week, and on 24 and 31 December. Please check with the branch office beforehand.

The educational talks given at the branches are mainly aimed at groups from schools and universities.

They include talks, among other topics, on the functions of the Banco de España and its role in the Eurosystem.
