4th WB-BE Policy Conference

On 8 June, the Banco de España will host the 4th joint conference with the World Bank entitled: “The economic challenges associated with rising (and falling) inequality”. The goal of this policy conference is to bring together academics and policy makers to discuss the challenges posed by inequality for modern economies. The event will include a keynote speech by Leandro Prados de la Escosura, who will analyse developments in international inequality in living standards from a long-term perspective, and two roundtables. In the first, Leonardo Gasparini (CEDLAS-Universidad Nacional de La Plata), Augusto de la Torre (World Bank) and Santiago Levy (Inter-American Development Bank) will discuss different aspects of recent developments in inequality in Latin America. In the second, Marcelo Olarreaga (Université de Genève), Romain Ranciere (Paris School of Economics) and Andrea Brandolini (Banca d'Italia) will elaborate on the implications of inequality for the macro-economy.
