Extension of information on holdings of central government debt

Financial markets statistics

As of 14 May, the Banco de España will publish new tables containing information that complements the existing data on the portfolios of holders of central government debt, within the topic “Financial markets statisticsOpens in new window”.

Specifically, the new tables are the following:

  • Non-stripped government bonds (table 22.41Opens in new window)
  • Principal components of stripped government debt (table 22.42Opens in new window)
  • Coupon components of stripped government debt (table 22.43Opens in new window)
  • Central government. Total Government debt (table 22.44Opens in new window)

Tables 22.41 and 22.42 present the information broken down by type of security from the table relating to non-stripped government bonds and principal of stripped State debt (nominal outstanding amounts, portfolio to maturity) (table 22.4Opens in new window).

Table 22.43, in turn, presents information on holdings of stripped coupons, which are not included in the total central government debt.

Finally, table 22.44 shows total central government debt, calculated as the sum of Treasury bills (table 22.3Opens in new window) and non-stripped government bonds and principal of stripped State debt (table 22.4Opens in new window).
