Following Eurostat recommendations relating to the establishment of a harmonised European revision policy, all European Union Member States will conduct a coordinated benchmark revision of their national accounts series in 2024. The reason for this revision is the need to update the sources and methodologies used to compile these series. Revisions of this type are conducted every four years. The releases of statistics that make up the national and regional accounts compiled by the INE (National Statistics Institute) will incorporate this revision throughout the time series from September 2024.
This coordinated revision is conducted by the INE, in the national and regional accounts, the IGAE (National Audit Office), in the general government accounts, and the Banco de España, in the Financial Accounts, Balance of Payments and International Investment Position statistics.
The national accounts information published by the Banco de España will be affected by these revisions. This information can be consulted at General economic statistics – National Accounts (ESA 2010).
