Historical Statistics: Balance of Payments of Spain 1959-1990
Historical statistics for researchers
A new dataset
has been published containing the statistical series of the Balance of Payments of Spain for the period 1959-1990, prepared by the Ministry of Commerce (later, the Secretary of State for Commerce).
With this dataset, the availability of information on the external transactions of the Spanish economy since 1931 (apart from the Civil War period) for researchers and users is completed.
In the section "Historical Statistics for Researchers" information from 1931 to 2014 can be found (only in Spanish):
- 1931-1934: International Balance of Payments and International Debt
- 1940-1958: The external sector during autarky. A reconstruction of Spain's balance of payments
- 1952-1998: International reserves
- 1953-1958: Spain's Cash Balance
- 1959-1990: Balance of Payments of Spain
- 1961-1992: Cash register of foreign transactions
- 1968-1992: External debt

- 1990-2014: Balance of Payments and International Investment Position according to the fifth edition of the IMF manual
For information after 2014, the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position statistics (starting in 1993) currently published in the "External Statistics" section of the Banco de España's website can be consulted.
