Greenhouse gas emissions by sector

The Banco de España monitors the banking industry’s exposures to the sectors that most contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. These sectors can generate significant banking sector exposure to the transition risk arising from the measures adopted to mitigate climate change, which affect them particularly sharply. The charts show emissions at the productive sector level (NACE classification), detailing those sectors that generate the highest volume of emissions. The relationship between the emissions generated and the gross value added of each productive sector is also set out.
