The Research Update briefly summarizes the research activities carried out by the Bank of Spain each semester. It replaces the previous Research Activities Report
that was published annually until 2011.
Among the main functions entrusted to the Bank of Spain are those of analyzing and investigating the evolution of the Spanish economy and its international environment. In fulfilling these functions, numerous research projects are developed, the results of which are disseminated internationally, through different channels, to central banks and other economic policy institutions, and to academics and other researchers in economics and finance.
