2026 “Smart money talks”

Global Money Week 2026 took place from March 16 to 22.

Under the slogan “Smart money talks”, Global Money Week 2026 highlighted the importance of speaking openly and naturally about issues such as saving, borrowing, investing and fraud prevention.

The Banco de España, the CNMV and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business held events throughout Spain. In the case of the Banco de España, its branch offices organised around fifty activities, including visits to primary, secondary and university education centres, as well as workshops held at the branches’ own premises.

The 2025 Global Money Week was held from 17-23 March.

The theme for the 2025 edition was “Think before you follow, wise money tomorrow”. The rise of so-called “finfluencers” – often pseudo-experts who promise quick financial gains in return for some kind of payment – may pose a risk, especially to young people.

Accordingly, during Global Money Week 2025 the Banco de España, the CNMV and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business focused their initiatives on behavioural biases, online marketing techniques and social trading.

Global Money Week 2024 was held from 18-24 March.

With the theme “Protect your money, secure your future”, Global Money Week 2024 concentrated on safe management of personal finances and protection against fraud.

In Spain, the Banco de España, the CNMV and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business, as coordinators of the Financial Education Plan and in collaboration with their network of partners, organised cultural events, talks and training activities focused on issues such as phishing and digital transaction scams.
