Financial Education Day is an initiative under the Financial Education Plan,
which is jointly coordinated by the Banco de España.
Financial Education Day aims to raise public awareness about the importance of developing the skills needed to manage personal finances in a responsible and sustainable way.
It is held on the first Monday of October, with the inaugural edition taking place in 2015.
Financial Education Day is an initiative backed by the Banco de España, the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business as joint coordinators of the Financial Education Plan.
Past editions
The 2025 Financial Education Day took place on Monday 6 October.
The chosen slogan for this edition was “Infórmate. Planifica. Decide”.
The 2025 edition focused on the importance of acquiring proper education and information to make the best financial decisions at every stage of life and to build a stable and secure economic future.
The main event took place at the CNMV headquarters in Barcelona.
In 2024, Financial Education Day was held on Monday 7 October.
Under the theme “Finanzas digitales: aprende, innova, Avanza”, the 2024 edition was aimed mainly at young people and focused on managing personal finances in an increasingly digital world.
Across Spain, numerous workshops, conferences and competitions were organised around the event, with particular emphasis on digital security and the risks associated with new technologies.
The main event was held at the Banco de España’s headquarters in Madrid.
The 2023 Financial Education Day took place on Monday 2 October.
The chosen theme was “Finanzas inclusivas, finanzas para todos”.
From childhood to retirement, every stage of our lives brings a host of financial decisions. With this in mind, many of the activities organised around the 2023 Financial Education Day centred on financial inclusion for all, particularly the most vulnerable among us.
The main event was held at the office of the government delegate to Andalusia in Seville.
