Madrid, 25 March 2026
Banco de España is pleased to host the conference “Climate Risk and Sustainable Finance: Bridging Policy, Research, and Practice,” in collaboration with the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), the Centre for Economic Transition Expertise (CETEx), and the Transition Pathway Initiative Centre at the London School of Economics. Central banks and financial authorities are actively integrating climate change risks into their policy frameworks. This event will convene central banks, policymakers, academics, and practitioners to exchange best practices and present recent developments in research and policy.
The conference will commence with a high-level discussion among key decision-makers, providing context for an in-depth examination of selected topics related to climate risk and sustainable finance in three thematic sessions. The first session, Climate Data and Analytical Tools, will address the enhancement of data quality and analytical tools for climate risk analysis to support financial stability and inform effective policy frameworks. The second session, Transition Plans and Adaptation to Physical Risks, will focus on practical approaches for formulating credible transition plans towards a low-carbon economy and strategies to strengthen resilience against extreme weather events and climate-related economic disruptions. The third session, Greening Central Banks’ Portfolios, will analyze the incorporation of climate and sustainability considerations into monetary policy and the management of central bank portfolios.
We invite you to participate in advancing a resilient financial system and supporting central banks and regulators in addressing the challenges associated with climate change.
Registration deadline: 18 March 2026. Sitting, in the hall, available up to full capacity.
