Directorate General Banking Regulation and Financial Stability
The Directorate General Banking Regulation and Financial Stability has the following functions:

It prepares reports and proposals relating to the drafting of general provisions affecting the institutions supervised by the Banco de España

It advises on technical and economic aspects relating to banking policy and financial regulation

It participates and represents the Banco de España in national and international organisations and forums in matters concerning the Directorate General Banking Regulation, particularly those affecting prudential regulation and banking policy

It reports and, if appropriate, resolves on requests from credit institutions or other financial agents which the Banco de España must transmit or authorise

It manages the Central Credit Register (CIR) and the official registers of the Banco de España

It is the recipient and custodian of the periodic accounting, statistical or other information and the information related to the publicity of their operations and services that the institutions under its supervision must submit to the Bank

It reports on on the non-compliance it observes regarding the obligations to file data, the compulsory ratios or other relations or limitations which the institutions under supervision are obliged to respect

It coordinates and produces the Financial Stability Report as well as the design and monitoring of the financial stability indicators

It performs research into the functioning of the banking markets and the behaviour of credit institutions
