The conference, “The EFF: More than 20 Years of Research Experience and the Way Forward,” will be held on September 3 and 4, 2026. Its aim is to highlight how household wealth surveys contribute to policymaking, research, and official statistics.

A first set of studies will examine the extent to which housing policies, financial knowledge, and heterogeneity in asset returns affect the distribution of wealth within and across generations. A second set of studies will analyze how households form expectations about their own income and about inflation, as well as the impact of these expectations on consumption, wealth, and earnings. Finally, a panel of data producers, researchers, and policymakers will discuss how wealth surveys are used in policymaking, research, and official statistics.

The event will also provide an opportunity to highlight the Spanish Survey of Household Finances, which has been conducted by the Banco de España for more than 20 years
