Central banks at the frontline of the COVID-19 crisis:
weathering the storm, spurring the recovery

On June 28, 2021, Banco de España, the Central Bank of Tunisia, the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) are hosting the VI Conference of Central Banks of the Mediterranean under the title “Central banks at the frontline of the COVID-19 crisis: weathering the storm, spurring the recovery”, that will be held online.
The conference brings together the Governors of the central banks of Algeria, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Lybia, Malta, Portugal, Spain and Tunisia, as well as Fabio Panetta, board member of the European Central Bank, the director of Economic Studies of Bank Al-Magrib, the secretary general of the Union for Mediterranean (UfM) and experts from the OECD, the academic world, and the financial sector.
Two main topics are addressed in this edition: the responses of the central banks to the COVID-19 crisis as well as the central banks’ roadmap to promote a sustainable post-COVID-19 recovery in the Mediterranean region.
