RECOMMENDATIONS FOR VIEWING CSV FILES
The CSV files have been devised using the following numerical punctuation symbols:
- decimal separator: decimal point
- thousands separator: none
- list separator: comma
so that if these are the regional settings defined in Windows, the files can be viewed correctly on an Excel spreadsheet.
In the event of viewing difficulties, you can:
Change your regional settings:
Depending on the Windows and Office version installed, the steps to take are as follows:
- Go to Start - Configuration - Control panel; or Start - Control panel
- Select "Regional settings" or "Regional and language settings"
- Select the "numbers" tab or click on the button "Personalise" and then the "numbers" tab, where the following changes must be made:
- Decimal separator: select a decimal point.
- Thousands separator: insert a space.
- Lists separator: select a comma.
- Click on "apply" and then on "OK".
If you cannot or do not wish to change your regional settings:
- Select the CSV file you wish to view; you can open it directly or save it on your hard drive, in which case you will need to open it with Excel.
- Select column A.
- Select the option "data" on the menu bar and choose "text to columns", making the following adjustments:
- Choose "delimited" and select "next".
- Choose "comma" instead of "tab" and select "next".
- Select "end".
