  • What reports does the Banco de España publish regarding the economic conjuncture?

    The Banco de España publishes a monthly Economic Bulletin, which includes an article on the recent performance of the Spanish economy. The Economic Bulletins in January, April, July/August and October contain a quarterly report on the Spanish economy. The Economic Bulletin also includes the main economic indicators, information from the Banco de España and various articles about different economic, monetary and financial issues.

    In addition, the Annual Report is published in June, with information about the Spanish, European and world economy, the performance of the markets and financial intermediaries, and the annual accounts of the Banco de España for the financial year in question. This report also contains a speech delivered by the Governor of the Banco de España.

    The Economic Bulletin and the Annual Report are also published in English.

  • What is the Central Balance Sheet Data Office and how can I consult it?

    The Banco de España Central Balance Sheet Data Office is part of the Statistics Department, one of the three departments that make up the Directorate General for Economics, Statistics and Research.

    The main task of the Central Balance Sheet Data Office is to compile economic and financial information on the activities of Spanish non-financial companies in order to gain a better understanding of this sub-sector, thereby complying with one of the functions assigned to the Banco de España by its Law of AutonomyOpens in a new window .

    It has therefore been responsible since 1984 for gathering economic and financial information from non-financial Spanish companies that voluntarily collaborate by filling in a standardized form. These data are used to produce the financial accounts of the Spanish economy and aggregate sector information to be used by other analysts outside the Bank: financial institutions, universities, researchers, central government, regional (autonomous) governments and national and international public bodies.

    The public disclosure of this information is done through the Quarterly Results of Non-Financial Companies, which are published in the Economic Bulletins for March, June, September and November. The Central Balance Sheet Data Office also publishes an Annual MonographOpens in a new window in November.

    Reporting corporations receive an individual study that allows them to make comparative studies with their sector, as well as to request specific reports from the Central Balance Sheet Data Office.   • Is it possible to consult aggregate data, free of charge, on the situation of businesses in certain activity sectors?

    The Central Balance Sheet Data Office of the Banco de España compiles information on non-financial corporations and uses this to produce statistics that are published in aggregate form via:

    • The Sector Aggregates ApplicationOpens in a new window , which contains extensive information on more than 300 activity sectors.
    • The RSEOpens in a new window (Sectoral Ratios of Spanish Non-Financial Corporations) database, produced in collaboration with the Mercantile Registries and the European Committee of Central Balance Sheet Data Offices, which contains the statistical distribution of 28 significant ratios since 1999, for a wide range of sector aggregates.
  • Can the Banco de España website be used to access the data of a specific non-financial corporation?

    The Banco de España Central Balance Sheet Data Office only provides information on non-financial corporations in aggregate form.
