Since 1986 and every three years, a group of central banks and monetary authorities, under the coordination of the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, conducted a survey on foreign exchange markets (spot, term and FX swaps), foreign exchange derivatives (currency swaps and options) and interest rates (FRAs, swaps and options) of the most active financial institutions in their countries.
The objective of these surveys is to assess the volume and scope of market activity and currency derivatives.
The Bank of Spain has participated since 1989.
