Security features

Euro banknotes incorporate highly advanced security features to facilitate recognition of genuine banknotes, which, by contrast, will help in the detection of counterfeit notes with a minimum of attention.

Demonstration Method of checking
Demonstration of raised print TOUCH raised print. The special printing process used gives the banknotes an unmistakable texture.
Demonstration of watermark LOOK the banknote held up to the light. You will see the watermark, the security thread and the see-through register, features that are visible on both sides of the banknote.
Demonstration of the holographic band TURN the banknote. On the obverse of the lower denomination banknotes, you can see the changing image of the holographic band.
Demonstration of the irisdescent stripe TURN the banknote and on the reverse you will see the shining of the iridescent stripe. With the higher denomination notes, on the obverse one sees the hologram and on the reverse the ink that changes colour.
